10 Closet Staples Every Woman Needs
Dang this was HARD! But I figured 10 is a good number and I could repeat this theme for other categories as well. This list is obviously subject to change and varies a bit seasonally, but for the most part is somewhat consistent of the last 5 years.
There are certain pieces in my closet that I am willing to spend on for quality over quantity- the list below is it. I will share the version that I own, as well as some of my favorite options out there right now .
Black Blazer
Ok, there is a lotttt of debate around the best black staple blazer out there. I have a lotttt of blazers and jackets, so this could definitely be a blog post in itself. BUT for the purpose of a simple black blazer that checks all the boxes- I’d say the winner is the Anine Bing Madeleine blazer. It’s a beautiful piece, as with anything by Anine Bing. 2. White oversized button-down.
I have and love the one from Madewell. It’s lasted me for years, is $79 (but there’s usually always a sale) and I wear it with everything!
3. Good Quality White T-shirt
Quality is the key word here. I’ve gone through a LOT of white tees. But this one from RE/DONE is my fav no matter how many washes, bleach dye, etc. It’s flattering, light weight and pairs well with a lot of things. I was hesitant to spend this much on a tee, but sure enough- it is always the one I pull when getting ready. I also love the tees from Everlane and Madewell. Linking below!
4. Fashionable White Sneaker
I love my Veja’s! I’ve had them for almost a year and wear them ALL the time. I love the simplicity, versatility, and that they are sustainably made. They took just a bit to break in and are now very comfortable. They come in a variety of color ways as well.
5. Black Leather Jacket
There is nothing like the look and feel of a real leather jacket. I’ve had the one pictured here for YEARS and actually love the way it has worn down over time. Nordstrom in-house brands make great quality leather. I also love the leather jackets from All Saints & the faux option that Blank NYC makes. Some photos linked below.
6. High-rise Mom Jean
Again, my favorite denim could be a blog post in itself- but the high rise Mom jean has been a staple for awhile. Levi’s and Agolde are my favorite denim brands. I love this pair! Levi’s website is also almost always having sales so be sure to keep an eye out before ordering a few pairs.
7. Black Chelsea Boot
It was VERY hard to pick just one staple boot, but I feel like whenever I’m packing for a trip and have to pick just one or two pairs of shoes- these are usually it. These Vagabond boots have been my go to this year. Added some more versatile options below as well.
8. Oversized Denim Jacket
There are many brands of denim that I love, but Levi’s is my tried and true. They’ve been around for years and clearly know what they’re doing with denim. I love the oversized look for a denim jacket these days, so this trucker style is my go to.
9. Black Lace Cami
I have gone through sooo many black tanks, camis, etc that never hold their shape or quality. I finally splurged on this one from Cami NYC and I LOVE it! It is so beautiful, layers well with everything and still looks brand new after 2 years. Love this brand!
10. Open Face Cardigan
I rarely shop at J.Crew, but really love their signature open face blazer jacket. I find myself pulling it out of my closet every year when the cooler months come around. It is a great way to dress up a more casual outfit and is super warm and cozy!
